Animal Care Expo offers an unparalleled opportunity for veterinary professionals to earn up to 16.5 hours of RACE-approved CE in animal welfare, shelter medicine and community practice topics while also networking with 2,000 experts in the field of animal care, control, rescue and emergency services.

CE INFORMATION

HSVMA has obtained RACE CE accreditation for veterinarians and veterinary technicians attending Animal Care Expo 2019 for 16 different Expo workshops and sessions. Those include:

MONDAY APRIL 15

1. Monday "Learning Lab" Veterinarians and the animal welfare movement: Building powerful partnerships (5.5 hours RACE CE). 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Includes the following topics:

  • Access to veterinary care: A national animal welfare crisis
  • Public-nonprofit partnership: A case study of community collaboration between the San     Francisco SPCA and San Francisco Animal Care and Control
  • Making the private-nonprofit veterinary relationship work: Case studies from two shelters;
  • The veterinary profession and the animal welfare movement: Lessons learned; opportunities ahead; and
  • The veterinary professional’s role in animal advocacy: How to maximize your impact in improving animal welfare in the clinic, the community and beyond.

2. Monday "Learning Lab" - Coping with Kittens: #AllTheCats Kitten Summit (6 hours RACE CE) - 8:00 am-3:00 pm

  • This learning lab designed to guide shelters through the most hair-pulling time of year: kitten season. Presenters will break the season down into three distinct phases and guide attendees through the science behind managing the influx and optimizing live outcomes during each phase. 

TUESDAY APRIL 16

3. Top-notch intake protocols for shelter pet health (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 9:45-11:15 am

4. Putting the "doc" in documenting animal cruelty: Part 1 (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 2:00-3:30 pm

5. Becoming a model shelter: One organization's journey with the Association of Shelter Veterinarian's guidelines (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 2:00-3:30 pm

6. Rounds and monitoring: Cornerstones for health (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 2:00-3:30 pm

7. Putting the "doc" in documenting animal cruelty: Part 2 (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 4:00-5:30 pm

8. Maximizing flow-through to maximize lifesaving (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 4:00-5:30 pm

WEDNESDAY APRIL 17

9. Serving people and pets of all incomes: Creating equity in access to veterinary care (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 10:15-11:45 am

10. Infectious respiratory disease in cats and dogs (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 10:15-11:45 am

11. Access to veterinary care: A national family crisis (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 2:15-3:45 pm

12. Feline retrovirus: Is your shelter retro-ready? (1.5 Hours RACE CE) - 2:15-3:45 pm

THURSDAY APRIL 18

13. Foundations for behavioral well-being (1 Hour RACE CE) - 9:00-10:00 am

14. Nothing to lose: Building a lifesaving parvo program (1 Hour RACE CE) - 10:15-11:15 am

15. Managing emotions: The Fear Free Shelter Program (1 Hour RACE CE) - 10:15-11:15 am

16. Katrina's promise: A change in the human weather  (1 Hour RACE CE)- 11:30 am -12:30 pm
