HSVMA Policy Against Sexual and Other Types of Harassment

The Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association is committed to maintaining an environment free from harassment based upon race, color, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, sex (including pregnancy), childbirth or related medical conditions, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, personal appearance, family responsibilities, physical or mental disability, citizenship, genetic information, matriculation, political affiliation, past, current or prospective service in the uniformed services, or any other personal characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law.

All HSVMA employees, Board members, State Representatives, Leadership Council members, volunteers, vendors, and visitors are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that respects the feelings and dignity of others in the workplace and conforms to the letter and spirit of this policy and to all applicable Federal, State, and local laws. In addition, the HSVMA supports efforts within the veterinary profession and the animal protection community to prevent workplace harassment and to ensure accountability and appropriate redress should it occur.
