MD Continuing Education Class: Reporting Suspected Abuse

HSVMA is sponsoring an upcoming continuing education presentation on the new Maryland law that requires veterinarians to report suspected animal abuse and fighting. The presentation, Reporting Suspected Abuse: A Roadmap for Complying with Maryland's New Mandatory Reporting Law, will be presented by veterinary forensic expert, Dr. Melinda Merck, at the Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Woodbine.

The presentation will cover:

  • An overview of the new law and what you need to do to comply as well as tips for establishing a hospital protocol for reporting animal abuse
  • Key information to better recognize cases of suspected abuse, an overview of the most common types of cruelty seen in practices, and a discussion of accidental versus nonaccidental injury

Schedule:

    • 6:30-8:30 pm: Presentation
