Barry Kellogg, VMD, Senior Veterinary Advisor of the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association issued the following statement:

We commend Congress and the President for making sure animals can receive the care they need regardless of location. We have been working hard to support and get this legislation passed. Now, veterinarians will be able to provide mobile spay/neuter services, on-site care on rural ranches, disaster response and at-home euthanasia without fear of being in violation of the law. The bill remedies a 2009 Drug Enforcement Administration policy/ruling making care for animals on farms, in the field, or at a client’s home problematic due to restrictions on transporting controlled substances beyond a registered location.
