Cierra Buer, DVM
HSVMA OREGON STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Dr. Cierra Buer grew up in Northern California and attended the College of Idaho for her undergraduate degree in Biology. She graduated from the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College in 2006 and moved to Oregon with her husband and pets. Upon graduation, Dr. Buer worked in a mixed animal practice where she immediately began collaborating with the local animal control officer on animal welfare cases and seizures. She went on to work at a low-cost veterinary clinic for 3 years where she provided quality low-cost care and spay/neuter clinic services.

Dr. Buer moved to Central Oregon in 2012 and began working in general practice and for the Central Oregon Community College Veterinary Technician Program part-time. That has evolved to a full time position as the Medical Director where she can share her love of animals and concern for animal welfare with her students and the community. While she still dabbles in private practice and shelter medicine, her passion lies with her 501(c)(3) non-profit, Lark Ranch Rescue and Rehabilitation, and with educating her students. She combines the two by providing no-cost medical and surgical procedures for other rescues and non-profit organizations. They have worked with the residents of the Warmsprings Reservation, Brightside Animal Center, Three Rivers Humane Society, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Rescue Ranch, Ember’s Rabbit Rescue and have hosted spay/neuter clinics for feral cats; to name a few.

Dr. Buer shares her home with her husband, son and a farm animal sanctuary that currently houses over 80 animals to keep her on her toes every day!
