Rural Area Veterinary Services (HSVMA-RAVS)

The Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association Rural Area Veterinary Services program combines high quality direct-care veterinary field clinics with clinical training for future veterinary professionals to improve the health and welfare of animals in remote rural communities.

Each year, we provide over $1 million in free veterinary services to more than 8,000 animals, in over 40 communities through HSVMA-RAVS. We also provide invaluable hands-on training for hundreds of future veterinary professionals.

Our teaching programs include training in medicine and surgery as well as community education and recognition of animal health problems in economically disadvantaged populations.

Through these efforts, we provide care for animals in need, improve the skills of veterinarians and veterinary technicians and inspire their participation in animal protection efforts.
